Ozzy Osbourne In Bucharest Romania

Ozzy Osbourne in Bucharest, Romania… now that should be a spectacle!

A few things you may not have known about Ozzy and the famous wife Sharon John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne was born in Birmingham, England, on 3 December 1948. His father Jack worked as a toolmaker. His mother Lillian worked for the car components firm Lucas. John was the fourth of six children. The nickname “Ozzy” was first used when he was in school.

Osbourne grew up dealing with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. General abuse from teachers made his childhood difficult for him. He became a great fan of The Beatles. He left school at 15 and was then employed in many casual jobs.  He spent six weeks in Prison when he was unable to pay a fine after being found guilty of burglary.

In late 1967, Geezer Butler formed the first band, they finally chose the name Black Sabbath in early 1969 based on a film, starring Boris Karloff.

The band had noticed how people enjoyed being frightened, and, inspired, they  decided to play a heavy blues style of music laced with gloomy sounds and lyrics. While recording their first album in a castle, Butler read an occult book and had a dream of a dark figure at the end of his bed. Butler told Osbourne about the dream and together they wrote the lyrics to Black Sabbath. The split with Black Sabbath came when band members finally sacked Ozzy in 1979.  The reasons provided to him were that he was unreliable and had excessive substance abuse issues as compared to the other band members. Ozzy claims his drug use and alcohol consumption at that time was no better nor worse than the other band members. What a guy!!

Sharon met future husband Ozzy Osbourne at the age of 18 while working for her father, Don Arden, who managed Black Sabbath. When Ozzy was fired from Black Sabbath in 1979, she took over his management after finding him completely wrecked and out of it in a hotel room, it took weeks/months of constant rehabilitation and coaxing to get him back out and working and then she started to date Ozzy. She was smart…Sharon coordinated the backing band for the recording of The Blizzard of Ozz and, by engaging proven songwriters, helped Ozzy launch what became a highly successful solo career.

It was rumoured that Sharon employed some of her father’s tactics where one promoter was kneed in the groin after failing to produce payments, and that she ruined a company’s computer system after they sold illegal merchandise. She managed Ozzy with great success after that and other famous bands like Lita Ford, Coal Chamber, The Smashing Pumpkins, Motörhead, and Gary Moore. Sharon Osbourne’s first autobiography, Extreme, was published in October 2005 and tells of her difficult childhood growing up with her father, and also documents the highs and lows of her marriage to husband Ozzy Osbourne, shedding light on areas of her life domestic violence, drug abuse, alcoholism, affairs, bribery, colon cancer, robberies, a plane crash, therapy, and cosmetic surgery are also documented in the autobiography. Busy life!!

It went straight to Number 1 on the Bestseller List and sold over 621,000 copies, becoming the biggest-selling autobiography since British records began. Irish Times considered it to be “truly unputdownable”. We love the Irish…Great words!

In March 2006 it won Biography of the Year at the British Book Awards. The autobiography has proceeded to sell in excess of two million copies which has become the most successful female autobiography ever.

They are currently ranked as the 700th richest people in Britain maintaining the previous wealth estimate of £100 million. Osbourne was quoted in The Guardian newspaper on 9 December 2006 as having sent her own excrement in Tiffany boxes on more than one occasion to people she felt had unreasonably criticized her or her family. When a journalist criticised Jack and Kelly, the kids, who were in their early teens, Osbourne sent a box of excrement with a note saying “I heard you’ve got an eating disorder. Eat this.”

They are lots more stories, particularly about Jack and Kelly, but hey, who cares, its Ozzy who is coming to town!
